How Veil Saved My Wedding Day

This is a story of a veil i originally wasn't going to get and about unexpected things that can happen. Yeah i was all against getting a veil for my wedding, but then i just fall in love with one particular and  just couldn't stop thinking of it. And in the end i got it. Now i wonder if somehow i had some 6th sense which told me that i need a veil, really needed one...  Pictures of my veil can be seen here.

We took our official wedding photos on 6th of jun 2012 while our wedding was on 9th of jun. It was the most smart decision i could think off, to take photos before hand and not stress about them on the wedding day ( will write about this more later). Wedding photos were taken in our local beautiful park. The weather was bad in the morning and we even thought that there will be no way that any photos would be possible to take outside. Really looked like it would rain and was kinda cold. So it never even came to my mind to think about possible mosquitoes.......

Photos were supposed to be taken at 6pm as that is the time when the light is the most beautiful. And how happy we were when around 5.30 pm clouds moved and sun came out. So we decided to take photos in the park like originally was planned. Like you probably guessed already where was the sun there were mosquitoes as well.... I got bites all over my hands, my back and my chest.... Luckily no bites on my face. I tried all the medicine they had at the pharmacist and nothing helped.... I thought of many things that could go wrong on my wedding day, but somehow mosquito bites never came to my mind :)

On my wedding day my fantastic makeup artist at Wellhottaret salon was trying all the best she could to cover the bites while my hair was done. But of course she couldn't take the swelling away... That is where my veil became a life savior! It hide just right spots : my shoulders and my back! My veil saved my wedding day ! <3

Suprisingly i didn't stress about the bites, swellings, or anything else.. I got married to a man i love and our official wedding photos allready were done with me still looking my best :D

Oh and here is the first photo of me in my bridal look :) Wedding dress and veil by fabulous Sis Idman ! <3

So future brides and their bridesmaids here are couple of things for you to learn from my experience:

  1. No matter what weather it is outside take with you anything that can drive away mosquitoes. Especially if your photos are taken somewhere in the park, near lake and or other mosquito favorite places.
  2. Even if you are 100% sure you don't want to cover your shoulders on your wedding day.. Do get something with which you can as you never know what can happen and you do not want to be running around city and searching for something on your wedding day or a day before.

Wedding Shoes - Rainbow Liliana

I've originally thought that finding shoes will be the most easy thing of all and that wedding dress will be the most hard thing to find. But actually everything went totally in a wrong way. (I will tell about me finding wedding dress later on with final pictures of it, but now the shoes time) Originally i thought that i would have some normal shoes that i can actually wear after the wedding. I even buy a pair of shoes before went dress shopping but i couldn't wear them as the heel was too high for my wedding dress. And then the closer and closer our wedding was the less and less i wanted normal shoes and more and more wanted something that would fit my wedding dress. After all the searches i found Rainbow Liliana shoes.

I fall in love with them immediately, but there were non for sale in our city and i was worried to order shoes online. I knew the store ( Morsiusateljee Katariina ) from where i got my dress and veil had other Rainbow shoes so i went there and asked for help. The amazing girls in that bridal store helped me out and ordered this shoes just for me and last Friday i finally got them home! Here are my beloved, the most amazing looking shoes in the whole world <3

I usually wear size 41 European shoes and this were just the right size in 41 European / 8UK. They are incredibly comfortable to walk in. Shoes came with 2 pairs of ties. The plush velvet and floaty organza ones. I personally like the velvet ones the most.

With velvet ties

The lower picture is with organza ties. The one negative part about organza ties is that the ends are not finished. So if the ends are not burned or closed in some other way they will start to open up and fast ( as my own started to open right away after i put them in the shoes). I was little surprised about this as this shoes are not cheap and i expected them to be in top condition at every part. But in the end fixing ends are not such a big deal.

This vintage and even Victorian looking shoes have hand beaded embroidered tulle and elegant round nose. I had difficulty in finding shoes that would not have a sharp nose. My foot is narrow and long, and sharp nose shoes make my foots look like I'm wearing a skis :) I don't know about you, but it somehow felt like most of the wedding shoes still have this sharp nose. Luckily for me not all of them! Aren't they amazing! <3

Oh and almost forgot. This shoes come with beautiful organza traveling bag as well <3

If you are curious about my bridal look, this shoes give some clues of what to expect :)

Wedding Ring Search Is Over

That is it. The wedding ring search is finally over ! I am really happy that i do not need to go to all the stores anymore ! What a relief! I know some girls love shopping, but i personally shop the best through my computer screen :)

So i went today to all the jewel stores in our little town and after that i was sure. There is one ring i really want ! So this Lily ring will be my in a 2-3 weeks times as it was needed to be ordered. And got some discount on it.

Happy Happy Joy Joy :)

So, this is my wedding ring! But my will be in white gold! <3 Can't wait to have it here :) It doesn't have lots of bling bling , has only one bigger diamond, but i feel it's gorgeous anyway ^^

Our Wedding Invitations

I've been talking few times by now about how important the wedding invitations are. They are first hints for the guest on what to expect on the wedding day. The colouring, decoration, text type. All those will give some clues. It is possible that I've taken this invitation importance to the next level hehe

Me and my fiance have been together for 10 years now, 7 years engaged.. So you could say that I've had some time to think what i like and don't like. So when the time came to decide what kind of invitations will we have, it was extremely easy for me. I just knew what i wanted! Luckily my fiance doesn't care as much, so i could use my imagination.

I was first thinking of making our invitations from the start all by myself, but then i found a place that was actually making my dream invitations! That was HORIZON company from Poland. And the end result was better than i could ever had expected! <3

Here is the package of our invitations as they arrived

We have both invitations in Finnish language and a couple of invitations in English. I've just sended the information i wanted to be wroten  on the invitations and ordering went extrimely easely and fast.

My idea was to have invitations that would look like an old letter. I used beautifully old type of polite finnish and english languages (i will show the exact text in the next post :) ). Like you can see our invitations have burned edges which makes them look even more old.

And to make our invitations looking even more old i've sealed our invitation letters with a seal wax stamps which had first letter of our names KH .

All of our invitations ready

Finnish post has very beautiful postage stamps which actually in the colouring were just perfect! <3

Invitations are ready to be posted <3

Ps: I know that people eather will love our invitations or hate them, but i am extrimely happy with them :)

My Lace Border Wedding Veil

"I will not have a veil." I had this thought for as long as i can remember. Don't understand me wrong, i did like the veils on other brides but i just couldn't see myself wearing one. I thought i would simply look like wearing a curtain over my head haha So think how surprised i was when trying out my wedding dress i saw a veil i felt like wanting to try on. I put this veil on and something happened , i simply fall i love with it and i knew i would have one on my wedding day. Yes it was that simple. I didn't buy that veil on that day ( i still needed to think how could i change my opinion about veils so suddenly), but few month later i did came back... and the veil, same veil i tried few month earlier came back home with me! Welcome home baby! <3

When i saw how beautifully staff of  the bridal store ( Morsiusatelje Katariina ) packaged my veil i felt like they were giving me a gift and not me simply paying for one. Haha, i was jumping up and down, literally, like a little kid on a Christmas eve :D

My veil was steam ironed and put in a lovely box cowered in silk paper with a silk ribbon <3

And here is my veil! It's ivory coloured like my wedding dress. Beautifully crafted. I couldn't be happier than i am ! Made by Sis Idman

Close up of the lace design on my veil. Isn't it beautiful ? It has some sparkles as well, enough to make it look stunning but settle enough to keep it timeless and elegant.

I won't be showing my veil with the whole length as it is so nicely packaged right now. But i will be posting some more photos of it on my wedding day ! <3

We don't have any wedding traditions in my family. So i kinda hope that maybe this veil could become one. It is fantastic quality, with elegant design. So maybe, just maybe my sisters would want to wear it after me and start our own tradition. I think this veil deserve it! :)
