Wool boleros and scarves

Earlier I've been showing you some examples of winter outerwear for winter brides. Usually fur stoles, jackets and boleros are thought as the bridal winter outerwear. But i never was a usual type of a person and not a usual bride either, so i looked for something else as well :)

For many years knitted and crochet items were thought to be very unfashionable and more of something our grannys did while seating on the rocking chair.  Every girl probably have this memories of granny/mom/aunt making an ugly looking sweater for Christmas present and forcing us to wear it, yeah... the worst nightmare for a teenager, as that hideous sweater could destroy any cool outfit... :) But lately this has been changing. Suddenly even high fashion houses demonstrate knitted/crouched/waulk garments. It seems that half of the friend circle has been learning to knit and Internet is full of  "How to learn.."-type of videos. That is why it is little surprising that woolen items are still rarely seen in the bridal clothing. With following items hope i can make you consider to use them somewhere in your bridal gown and for your bridesmaids.

You wonder how will you manage to go outside in a woolen scarf? Yes of course it is true if there is -25C outside, there is no way little woolen scarf or bolero would keep you warm or at least for long time (but do you need for long time anyway ? ), but otherwise wool is very versatile and can actually be worn at any time of the year and most important can be worn even after the wedding. Wedding already makes you buy so many things that you will wear only once that i think it's really great if you can use at least part of your wedding gown after celebration. And why not make something yourself, making simple white scarf isn't difficult or very time consuming.

If you still wondering if it's even  possible to look bridal in a knitted scarf, the answer is YES. And you will look stunning in it! But actually you don't need to trust my world on this, you can simply look at this beautiful designs made by  ForYouDesig

Wedding Invitations Part 2 : Luxurious and Medieval

When you think about wedding invitations you automatically might think that they must be made as a card. But that isn't true. There is no rule on how your invitation must look. Why not see an invitation as a way to show your family and your friends who you are as a couple. Do you have a hobby you both enjoy? Or possibly you would like to show what you value the most? For example the paper you use for your invitations could be recycled. If you like to write/read poems you could put a nice love poem. Anything is possible, just use your imagination! But remember, your invitation will set the mood and give theme for your whole wedding as well.

I'm trying not to put a usually seen invitations, but more of something little different. If you have subject you are interested in and want me to help you out with finding fitting idea to make it work in invitation, please do tell me, i will do the best i can to help you !

If you are interested in Victorian style, very romantic and  luxurious, i think you might like something like this as your wedding invitations.

If medieval times, knights and princesses are something you are interested in. Then you could probably be interested in a scroll, letter and calligraphy type of invitations.

I personally like old letter looking invitations the most. Something in the old yellowish paper and hand writing somehow talks to me. If you have a beautiful hand writing and there are not too many invitations that needs to be send, i would really suggest you to write your invitations yourself as you both will save money and have unique looking invitations.

Wedding Stress

Today is one of the days when i feel little stresses and sad.. I want so many things, but i simply can't get them all. Don't think I'm alone with this issue - I'm a woman after all :) Honestly I'm not very good in compromising on the things i like and i hate even to think about budget and about money. I'm one of those people who wants different and unique and unforgettable, but i guess any bride wants that. Yes i know the wedding isn't about STAFF , i know it is about celebrating the love two person have to each other, but what to do when you want to celebrate it in a most beautiful way ?

I simply can't get it all and even if i could.. would it ever be enough ? Or would i become as those celebrities who spend millions on their wedding day? The thought of it is really scary...!

So what do i do ? How to save some money on the things i REALLY want without compromising too much ? Some of the things it is possible to do yourself, like invitations, table cards, menu and decorations. It is cheaper to make your own flower arrangements for the tables than to buy ready made bouquets from the flower store. Basically just think what you can/want do yourself and what you can't.

I've been thinking of making few things myself and save some money for the things i simply not able to make myself, like photography for example. Will go to a second hand stores and to pawnshop and even to one auction.. So wish me luck, and i will be keeping you updated with the progress on this matter :)

Yours,
Katherine

Wedding dress of january - Medieval style

I am little late with the dress for January, but I would really like to continue my winter inspired weddings with this breath taking beautiful winter gown. It's especially fantastic dress for those brides who like medieval style. Long sleeves, fur borders, waist emphasising belt and elegant colouring of this dress will make any bride look stunning and original looking on her special day. This dress was found on German website : historical-costumes.eu

The trail of this dress isn't too long, but enough to give some royal feeling.

Here is example of the same dress in green with grey fur borders. Beautiful dress for those brides who do not want to wear white or light colour wedding gown. I can see this green dress looking great in wedding ceremonies taken in forest and in autumn.  Can i please have both, just for my pleasure... :)

If you are interested in a dress with this style, you could easily ask your local seamstress how would it be possible. I'm sure a good seamstress will be able to make this gown for you just the way you like.

Outerwear for Winter Wedding

Snow fell gently on the cream wedding cake,
A winter wedding right next to the lake.
Everyone smiled, what a joyous time!
The bridesmaids all smiled as they stood in a line.

The bride!  What a beautiful, enthralling sight...

Winter wedding...  When thinking about winter weddings first things that come to my mind are warmth of candles, hot chocolate drinks, beautiful white snow and freezing cold outside. I like first ones a lot, but feeling cold isn't something I'm happy with. But no worries, poor brides won't be freezing outside while everyone else is wrapped in their winter coats, caps and scarfs. Depending on style of the wedding dress and personal taste it is possible to find something that will keep your warm and bridal looking no matter how cold it is outside. Bridal stores are full of wedding coats, jackets, boleros and stole. And if you are searching for something extraordinary for outwear on your wedding day, the world of Internet will be really handy.

While i was searching for beautiful winter outwear i couldn't stop thinking of how we should have decided to have a winter wedding after all... But then again, how in the world would i manage to pick only one coat anyway ? :)

The style of outwear you choose for your wedding day will depend on the wedding dress you will be wearing. With a mermaid, empire, medieval, wiggle dresses (gowns that do not have wide skirts)  it is possible to wear any type of coats, jackets, boleros and stoles. While princess style, A-line and full circle swing dresses will look better with short jackets, boleros and stoles. Here are some ideas for your wedding day.

When i saw this coat i thought there was something so elegant and stylish in it. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if some bride wouldn't want to take the coat off at all ... Who cares if it's warm inside and what kind of a dress you have under it when you can look this beautiful? :) DressBridalGowns
