How Veil Saved My Wedding Day

This is a story of a veil i originally wasn't going to get and about unexpected things that can happen. Yeah i was all against getting a veil for my wedding, but then i just fall in love with one particular and  just couldn't stop thinking of it. And in the end i got it. Now i wonder if somehow i had some 6th sense which told me that i need a veil, really needed one...  Pictures of my veil can be seen here.

We took our official wedding photos on 6th of jun 2012 while our wedding was on 9th of jun. It was the most smart decision i could think off, to take photos before hand and not stress about them on the wedding day ( will write about this more later). Wedding photos were taken in our local beautiful park. The weather was bad in the morning and we even thought that there will be no way that any photos would be possible to take outside. Really looked like it would rain and was kinda cold. So it never even came to my mind to think about possible mosquitoes.......

Photos were supposed to be taken at 6pm as that is the time when the light is the most beautiful. And how happy we were when around 5.30 pm clouds moved and sun came out. So we decided to take photos in the park like originally was planned. Like you probably guessed already where was the sun there were mosquitoes as well.... I got bites all over my hands, my back and my chest.... Luckily no bites on my face. I tried all the medicine they had at the pharmacist and nothing helped.... I thought of many things that could go wrong on my wedding day, but somehow mosquito bites never came to my mind :)

On my wedding day my fantastic makeup artist at Wellhottaret salon was trying all the best she could to cover the bites while my hair was done. But of course she couldn't take the swelling away... That is where my veil became a life savior! It hide just right spots : my shoulders and my back! My veil saved my wedding day ! <3

Suprisingly i didn't stress about the bites, swellings, or anything else.. I got married to a man i love and our official wedding photos allready were done with me still looking my best :D

Oh and here is the first photo of me in my bridal look :) Wedding dress and veil by fabulous Sis Idman ! <3

So future brides and their bridesmaids here are couple of things for you to learn from my experience:

  1. No matter what weather it is outside take with you anything that can drive away mosquitoes. Especially if your photos are taken somewhere in the park, near lake and or other mosquito favorite places.
  2. Even if you are 100% sure you don't want to cover your shoulders on your wedding day.. Do get something with which you can as you never know what can happen and you do not want to be running around city and searching for something on your wedding day or a day before.

Headless Wedding Photos

You could say that this will be a little more critical type of a post. But I've been thinking about this type of photography for some time now, especially since we were having our own wedding photos taken just not long ago ( in jun this year , yeah I'm a fresh baked wife he he ), and i  found myself having suprsingly strong oppinions about the matter. I don't know if anyone is thinking like i do, but i just thought i would share with you my thoughts.

So what am i talking about here? Well... I'm talking about new big trend in the wedding photography - Headless Wedding Photos. I know there is a certain idea behind making photos without heads. The idea is to make hands, bouquet , shoes - or something else instead of head be as the main priority. To kinda make your eye go in the dirrection wanted without facial expressions taking the attention away. But to me there just something little cripy about headless photoshoots. At first i didn't even think of it, but it seems to be a new trend to take photos without heads, and honestly i don't know what to think of it... I guess i just old fashion. The real feelings can be seen in the face and cutting it off... oh well...

After searching around the "wild wild web" I can say, that there are clearly 3 types of a headless shoots you can find. I call them Romantic Almoust Headless Shoots, No Head or Shoulders Shoots and A Guillotine Cut-Type of Headless Shoots.

1. Romantic almoust headless shoots

There is something very romantic in this shoots. Yes you can't see part of the heads, but there is emotions.. This are both beautiful and artistic photos. What do you think ?

2. No head or shoulders shoots

I must say i love this photo. The hands are in the main attention and you almoust can feel the emotions and almoust like looking at someting so pressios... Love it! photo

This ones can be called as traditional wedding bouquet shoots :

Dress / Accessories closeup photoshoots <3

3. A guillotine cut-type of a headless shoots

This photos are the ones that make me go nuts.... This bride for example... It makes me wonder if her bridesmades more beautiful than she is and that is the reason for cutting their heads off :)

There is something cool in this photo, even while headless :) The attitude is just right!

So he is tall, is it good enough reason to cut his head from the photo ?

Personally i can say that i do like the Headless Photos of types 1 and 2, but dislike the guillotine type. Then again i think that the mood in which the photos are taken is extrimely important. You can basicly take photos the what ever type you like ( headless or with heads or what ever ) and they will look fantastic as long as you can bring the feeling in them. So that the characters on the photo are not just standing still looking lifess ( lifess brings in creepy), as that is what easily happends when there are no faces to show the emotions.

What do you think about headless wedding photos ? Did you make any? Or are you going to have some ?

PS:  I kinda wish i could have my wedding coming once again :)

I'm back :)

The wedding came and go and the normal life started. I wasn't going to have a long break from writing, but somehow just did. I kinda wondered if i will loose interest in writing about weddings after my own wedding is over, but it didn't happen so. I just can't stopping looking for nice things around... So I'm back with new ideas and new thoughts .. And of course I'll tell something about my own wedding as well which was fantastic even though didn't go exactly as it was planned originally ( but that is normal isn't it ? :) ).

So my post after such a long time is.... I'm back ! <3

Wedding Shoes - Rainbow Liliana

I've originally thought that finding shoes will be the most easy thing of all and that wedding dress will be the most hard thing to find. But actually everything went totally in a wrong way. (I will tell about me finding wedding dress later on with final pictures of it, but now the shoes time) Originally i thought that i would have some normal shoes that i can actually wear after the wedding. I even buy a pair of shoes before went dress shopping but i couldn't wear them as the heel was too high for my wedding dress. And then the closer and closer our wedding was the less and less i wanted normal shoes and more and more wanted something that would fit my wedding dress. After all the searches i found Rainbow Liliana shoes.

I fall in love with them immediately, but there were non for sale in our city and i was worried to order shoes online. I knew the store ( Morsiusateljee Katariina ) from where i got my dress and veil had other Rainbow shoes so i went there and asked for help. The amazing girls in that bridal store helped me out and ordered this shoes just for me and last Friday i finally got them home! Here are my beloved, the most amazing looking shoes in the whole world <3

I usually wear size 41 European shoes and this were just the right size in 41 European / 8UK. They are incredibly comfortable to walk in. Shoes came with 2 pairs of ties. The plush velvet and floaty organza ones. I personally like the velvet ones the most.

With velvet ties

The lower picture is with organza ties. The one negative part about organza ties is that the ends are not finished. So if the ends are not burned or closed in some other way they will start to open up and fast ( as my own started to open right away after i put them in the shoes). I was little surprised about this as this shoes are not cheap and i expected them to be in top condition at every part. But in the end fixing ends are not such a big deal.

This vintage and even Victorian looking shoes have hand beaded embroidered tulle and elegant round nose. I had difficulty in finding shoes that would not have a sharp nose. My foot is narrow and long, and sharp nose shoes make my foots look like I'm wearing a skis :) I don't know about you, but it somehow felt like most of the wedding shoes still have this sharp nose. Luckily for me not all of them! Aren't they amazing! <3

Oh and almost forgot. This shoes come with beautiful organza traveling bag as well <3

If you are curious about my bridal look, this shoes give some clues of what to expect :)

Photography and the weather

One week before the wedding now! And now i have some stress about the photography. We were supposed to take official photos already at evening on Wednesday 6.6.2012. But i checked the weather for that day and it seems we will have some rain here. Grrrr... i would really want to take photos somewhere near the lake with a beautiful nature background. But who knows the weather still can change! Lets hope. But in case there will be rainy day i need some place to take photos inside.

One possibility would be to take photos at our wedding venue at Holiday Inn. One negative thing tho is that we will have there photos on a wedding day already, so would be nice to have somewhere else as well...

But something good as well, the weather for our wedding day looks good at this particular moment <3
